VOLUME 27 - DO AMOR

We can say that one of the most important fact that made four boys get together to form a band is their musical affinity: walk at the same beach, like the same records, enjoy the same sound. That quite exists between "Do amor" bandmates. But what makes the band of Gabriel Bubu (guitar), Gustavo Benjão (guitar), Marcelo Callado (drums) e Ricardo Dias Gomes (bass) walks is exactly the opposite of this "commom taste". What makes this partnership works - in which there's no leader and everybody divides equally the tasks of composition, playing and singing - are the differences. From heavy metal to "axé" music, each one goes through with more intimacy in some aesthetics.

Everybody, individually, works as musicians with other artists (besides being together as background band for Nina Becker): Marcelo and Ricardo integrates "Cê", the record and show of Caetano Veloso, Bubu used to play with Los Hermanos, Benjão plays the guitar with Totonho e os Cabras, Domenico + 2, Nervoso and with much more other people. In 2007, they released their first EP.

On the side B, they were helped by some children that were playing at that park, they gave a lot of energy to this song, running around the band. Starting as some type of hide and seek, "Do amor" played "Shop Chop" (Ricardo Dias Gomes).

VOLUME 26 - ANELIS ASSUMPÇÃO

Anelis Assumpção is a well raised snake. It's been exactly 10 years that she got on the road. First, being a backing vocal on her father's concerts, the amazing Itamar Assumpção. Later, as one of the heads of Dona Zica, one of the most representative bands of the São Paulo's new generation, she sings, writes and plays percussion and she recorded two albums with the band.

Last year, Anelis decided to shape up her indepence. She made a solo concert that, soon, should make her debut album. So, here, we thought it could be a great idea if she shows that project, without any string attached with his father or Dona Zica.

The writer/singer called Maurício Pregnolatto, Bruno Buarque, Cris Scabello and Lelena Anhaia and gather them inside a house, in a bad weather and good mood afternoon. And the infomality of this meeting is that we have registered here.

SIDE A - BOLA COM OS AMIGOS
(soccer with friends)
december 2007 - são paulo (sp) - on the studio

For the side A, we were taken to a studio in a basement, in which the song Bola com os Amigos (Anelis Assumpção) was presented as the band rehersal. The posters on the wall and the percussion instruments spread all over the room made the mood of the video much more personal and, without any formality that could have in other studio, as we can call, "official".

SIDE B - PASSANDO A VEZ
(passing my turn)
december 2007 - são paulo (sp) - in the kitchen

The kitchen was a set for the outgoing side B, Passando a Vez (Anelis Assumpção/ Luz Marina Espíndola). After some beers, the home table was transformed in a "circle of samba" that you could find on the best "botecos" all over Brazil. This performance made everybody forget the bad weather and to surrender to the song and to the toast peanuts, that could be found everywhere in the video, in the more unexpected places.

VOLUME 25 - NERVOSO E OS CALMANTES

Star of the independent scene in Rio de Janeiro, Nervoso was a drummer in some importants rock bands in the 90's and 00's, such as Autoramas, Acabou La Tequila and Matanza. In 2003, he went solo. He wanted to put some light on his own compositions, that end up at second place (or never heard), 'cause they could only work when singing properly by him.

His first step was to become a producer, and afforded by him, he made an EP with 7 songs, that end up being a great aperetif for the upcoming cd Saudade das Minhas Lembranças, released by Midssumer Madness and it could be considered one of the best brazilian releases of the year 2004. This same cd would get a remix version two years later.

With a new cd ready to be released and a new EP, available in Midsummer's website, Nervoso is now, on Pocketmusic.

SIDE A - EU QUE NÃO ESTOU MAIS AQUI
(me who is not here anymore)
november 2007 - são paulo (sp) - on the subway

Eu que não estou mais aqui (Benjão), the side A, was shot in a subway station called Consolação, in Paulista Av. Cars passed by, people coming in and out of the station and the guitar case waiting for a change (that never came), Nervoso e Os Calmantes played this never heard before song.

SIDE B - O BOM VENENO
(the good poison)
november 2007 - são paulo (sp)- in the bank

The side B was made without any authorization of the bank and without any musical instruments. O Bom Veneno (Nevoso/Renato Martins) was made in a ATM in Paulista Av.

VOLUME 24 - CÉREBRO ELETRÔNICO

Coming from the motherhood band Jumbo Elektro, Cérebro Eletrônico released its first record "Onda Híbrida Ressonante" in 2004, by the record label Recohead. This record was declared influenced by the tropicalista movement of Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, and wanted to point out the importance of the maestro Rogério Duprat.

Cérebro Eletrônico (Eletronic Brain) is formed by, mostly, from the boys of Jumbo: Dudu Tsuda (also in a band called Trash Pour 4), Isidoro Cobra, Gustavo Souza, Fernando Maranho and from the multi-man Tatá Aeroplano. "Pareço Moderno", the second album of the band, is ready to be released this year.

Every artist, deliberatly or not, ends up exposing his personality in the choice of the place we're gonna shot, so, here, the downtown of São Paulo, a separated world full of sounds, movements and people, was a cenary, again, for this energetic and diversified musicians.

SIDE A - ME ATIRAR NA ORGIA
(throw myself into the orgy)
november 2007/ são paulo (sp)/ in the downtown

"Me atirar na orgia" (Tatá Aeroplano/ Adalberto Rabelo), the side A, was registered as one of the many performances that occurs daily on the sidewalks of the downtown of São Paulo, with the most spontaneous audiences that are used to bump into this kind of unexpected concerts.

SIDE B - PAREÇO MODERNO
(i look modern)
november 2007/ são paulo (sp)/ on the street

The side B, "Pareço Moderno" (Tatá Aeroplano), incorporates the "flâneur" spirit, once its verses are said during a slow and contemplative walk. To get it all completed, the greatness of the presence of the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo fills the landscape.
